FC Diablos Fall in First Match of the 2020 Mini-Season






SPRINGFIELD, IL (Jul. 15, 2020) - FC Diablos dropped their first match of the 2020 Mini Season on Wednesday by a score of 5-2 at the Springfield FC, SASA Complex.

Wednesday's match was a strange match that required a weather delay. The original kick-off was scheduled for 7PM but was delayed due to a tornado watch alert and lightning in the area. Despite the bad weather to begin, the night ended to be great playing conditions. Kick-off was delayed until 7:30PM.

First Half:
Springfield would have their first opportunity in the 2nd minute where the FC Diablos defense could not clear the ball out of danger and it results in a 1v1 situation where our center backs are able to hit it out for a corner. FC Diablos would see their first chance at goal with a Freekick from Dann Musasa that hits the wall and his rebounding shot goes to the hands of the Springfield goalkeeper. Springfield would get the first goal of the match at the 23-minute mark when Springfield picks up a loose ball and slots it behind the FC Diablos defense and past our goalkeeper. At the 29th minute, Springfield would pick up a soft pass near the goal and take a long-distance shot that beats Kevin Sanchez. FC Diablos would later score in the 39th minute with great combinations on the left-wing and a cross that was headed into the goal by Mason Maier. The teams would go into halftime with Springfield up on the scoreboard 2-1. 

Second Half:
Springfield FC would increase their lead at the 57th minute with a ball on the ground from the left-wing that is left for a lone Springfield player to tap the ball in the net. At the 65th minute, FC Diablos strikes back by picking up a slow pass to the Springfield center-backs that Quadril Lawal has no issue with finishing. Despite FC Diablos keeping the match tight up to the 75th minute, Springfield would add two more before the end of the match and the 75-minute mark and 86-minute mark.
