FC Diablos End Level in the First Home Match of the 2020 Season

BLOOMINGTON, IL (Jul. 18, 2020) - FC Diablos draw in the first home match of the 2020 Mini Season on Saturday by a score of 1-1 at the PCSL Soccer Complex in Bloomington, IL.

Saturday seemed to be perfect playing conditions as the ball started rolling at 5PM. One training after the match in Springfield did not seem to be enough to pull away with a win against Indy City FC in the first home match of the 2020 Mini Season.

First Half:
FC Diablos would start off strong with a shot by Quadril Lawal that was blocked by the Indy City keeper in the 2nd minute of the match. A second FC Diablos opportunity would happen with a shot from the top of the box that barely goes wide by Tayo Adefioye. The first Indy City opportunity would come in the 9th minute with a mistake in the backline that ends in a corner kick for Indy City FC. At the 14-minute mark, Mason Maier would be very close to the first goal of the match with a shot from outside of the box that skims the right post. Both teams took advantage of a water break at the 24th minute. The FC Diablos attack would continue strong up to a pause in the match for paramedics to attend to Quadril Lawal who was injured in a hard tackle. The match would resume and remain scoreless at the half.

Second Half:
The FC Diablos attack would continue where they left off. In the 51st minute of the match, the Indy City goalkeeper would make 2 great saves to keep the score level. It took a total of 56 minutes for the first goal of the match to arrive. Officials call a penalty kick for a handball in the FC Diablos box that Indy City would put in the back of the net. Goalkeeper, Dale Tarter, nearly saved the attempt by Indy City. FC Diablos would remain dangerous to the Indy City defense but could not find the back of the net until the 84th minute. At the 84-minute mark, Juan Quintas would beat the Indy City left-back in the box which caused the Indy City defender to commit a foul. Jose Pacheco does not forgive with a perfectly taken penalty to even the score. Officials decided not to add any added time and the match remained level.

Final: FC Diablos 1 - 1 Indy City FC
